Current Context: The GOI and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed the loan agreement for Jharkhand.
ADB approved Loan for Jharkhand
  • The loan agreement was signed to develop water supply infrastructure in Jharkhand.
  • The loan will be used to enhance the capacities of urban local bodies (ULBs) to have improved service delivery in four towns of the state.
  • In this regard, the ADB has sanctioned a loan of USD 112 million to the Jharkhand.
  • This is the first loan by ADB in the state of Jharkhand.
  • The project will ensure continuous water supply to the people and will satisfy the objective under Jal Jeevan Mission.
  • The water supply through pipes will be made under the project in the 4 towns of Ranchi, Hussainabad, Jhumri Telaiya, and Medininagar.
  • The 4 water treatment plants will have a water capacity of 275 million liters per day.
  • Also, 940 km of water distribution network will be constructed to provide water supply to 115000 houses.
