Current Context: The ‘Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’ was launched by PM Narendra Modi via video conference.

‘Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission’

The mission is also known as the National Digital Health Mission (NDHM).
It will be implemented in pilot phases in 6 UTs.
The mission aims to develop an online platform by delivering data, infrastructure services, duly leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems.
It will maintain and ensure security for confidential health-related personal data.
It will allow access and exchange of health records of citizens with their health experts and doctors.
The mission will bring about revolutionary changes in the health facilities of India.
The health ID for every citizen will be used as their health account. The health records of the citizens will be linked to these accounts and they can view them on mobile phone app when required.
The mission will thus help to connect patients with hospitals across the nation via a technology platform.
