Defence Ministry signed Deal with Airbus Defence and Space of Spain

Current Context: The Minsitry of Defence, GOI signed a contract with Airbus Defence and Space of Spain to procure 56 C-295 military transport aircraft.

• The C-295 military transport aircraft will replace Avro-748 planes of IAF.
• Out of the total aircraft, 16 will be procured in a fly-away condition, others will be manufactured and assembled by the Tata Advanced Systems (TASL).
• They have a capacity of 5-10 tonnes.
