- The ‘Medicine from the Sky’ is the first of its kind project which aims to transport vaccines and other essential products to remote areas with the help of drones.
- The project is taken on a pilot basis in 16 green zones of state and will be enhanced at the national level later on.
- The data will be analyzed for the duration of 3 months by the health ministry, IT ministry, state government, and the Centre
- Due to this project, Telangana has become the 1st state in India to make use of drones for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLoS) to deliver medicines and other products.
- The project is launched by the state government in association with World Economic Forum, NITI Aayog, and HealthNet Global.
- Under the project, the first delivery was conducted by Delhi based drone delivery tech firm named Sky Air Mobility in partnership with Blue Dart Express.
- Around 5 kg vaccines box from Vikarabad District hospital were delivered towards health community center located at the distance of 3 km.
