Ministry of Ayush signed MoU with American Herbal Pharmacopoeia

Current Context: The Union Ministry of Ayush has signed an MoU with American Herbal Pharmacopoeia.

• The Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H) which comes under Ayush Ministry has signed the MoU on the behalf of the respective ministry.
• The MoU was signed to enhance the export potential of the ASU&H (Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy) drugs.
• Both the entities will work to frame safety and standards for ASU&H drugs.
• The joint committee will also be set up which will define an action plan to execute the MoU.
• The MoU will help to strengthen, promote and develop standards in the Ayurveda and other Indian Traditional Systems of Medicine between both the nations by observing equality and mutual benefit.
• The MoU will also help the ministry to spread its valuable products globally and enhance export, especially to the US market.
• Under the MoU, there will be an exchange of technical data for the development of Monographs, training, exchange of Herbarium specimens, and various research samples.
