Current Context: The Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has partnered with NTPC Limited.
NCL partnered with NTPC Limited
  • The NCL is the subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL).
  • They have partnered to set up a solar power project of 50 megawatts in Madhya Pradesh.
  • The solar project will be set up at Nigahi coal mines of NCL in the Singrauli district of the state.
  • The CIL NTPC Urja Private Ltd (CNUPL) will coordinate the project. The CNUPL is the joint venture of Coal India Ltd and NTPC.
  • The entire project is said to be completed in one year.
  • Under the project, the NTPC will help NCL to get the successful bidder. And the job of NCL will be to get executed the entire project through that successful bidder.
  • The project will also fulfill the goal of CIL to attain 3000MW of solar power by 2023-24. By doing so, it will thus become a net-zero company.
