- The villages having 50% of the tribal population will be given priority under the scheme.
- The Ministry of Tribal Affairs will commence and execute the scheme.
- Around 1,700 tribal villages in Assam will be diverted into model villages through this scheme.
- Also, 184 new Van Dhan Kendras will be set up in Assam and it will benefit around 60,000 people.
- The PMAGY is a rural development program that aims to uplift and develop villages in the country. The villages having over 50% of people from scheduled castes will be selected for the scheme.
- All the major and mandatory facilities like electrification, housing, sanitation, water supply, and rural roads, etc will be provided to the villages under the scheme.
- The technical support to the scheme is provided by the ‘National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR)’.
