Current Context: The Project Agreement (PA) between the Ministry of Defence of GOI and the US Department of Defence was signed.
Project Agreement signed between India and US
  • The PA was signed for the purpose of an Air-Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (ALUAV).
  • The agreement was signed under the Joint Working Group Air Systems in the Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI).
  • The objective of DTTI is to have a leadership focus to promote collaborative technology exchange and develop opportunities for co-production and co-development of future technologies for Indian and US military forces.
  • This is the major step taken by both nations in order to strengthen defence technology cooperation.
  • The PA will enable the collaboration between Air Force Research Laboratory, Indian Air Force, and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in the domains like design, development, demonstration, testing, and evaluation of systems in order to develop ALUAV Prototype.
  • Both the nations will jointly work to develop ALUAV Prototype.
