- The MoU was signed with an aim to enhance exports through quality production & processing, enhance value addition and farmers’ income.
- The MoU will be led to having market linkage with farmers and Farmer Producers Organizations (FPOs).
- It will also promote commercial cultivation of processable varieties which are developed by ICAR-IIMR for exports. This will lead to having value addition of the highly nutritive variety of cereals, called millets.
- The MoU will develop export centric ecosystem through supply chain linkages, usage of technology, conduction of clinical studies, awareness creation, policy changes, and involvement of entrepreneurs.
- Both the entities will work to develop skills on how to analyze export competitiveness, price volatility of markets, standards for market intelligence, regulations in trade policies, understanding markets, consumer preferences, and emerging segments.
- They will develop Millet Export Promotion Forum in partnership with stakeholders.
- The coordination committee will be framed which will be comprised of experts from both the entities and will look after the execution of the MoU.
