QUAD Leaders Summit

Current Context: The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad) of India, Australia, the United States, and Japan Leaders meeting was held.

• This was the first in-person meeting in which PM Narendra Modi participated with leaders of the US, Japan, and Australia.
• The meeting was hosted by US President Joe Biden at the White House.
• At the meeting, the leaders of quad assured to work together for a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
• They also decided to frame a joint plan to provide Covid-19 vaccines around Asia.
• They launched a climate initiative by taking a pledge of ‘decarbonize at pace’ and ‘keep climate goals within reach’.
• They assured support for free, open, and rule-based order rooted in international law to enhance security and prosperity  in the Indo-Pacific and beyond.
