Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana

Current Context: The Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw launched Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

• The Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana comes under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
• Under the Yojana, the entry-level training will be given to the youths by Railway Training Institutes.
• The trainings will be related to industrial-based skills.
• Around 50,000 candidates will be trained under the yojana within the span of 3 years.
• Initially, training will be given to 1000 candidates in four trades like Welder, Electrician, Fitter, and Machinist.
• The trainings will be conducted in 75 Railway Training Institutes from across India.
• The training sessions will be free of cost and the selection of the participants will be made as per the applications received online. Then the selection process will follow a transparent mechanism based on marks in matriculation.
• The trainees will then have to appear for the assessment and will be awarded certificates in their respective trade by the National Rail & Transportation Institute after completion of their training sessions.
• The candidates between the age of 18 and 35 years and who are 10th passed can apply for the yojana.
