- This was the 21st edition of the SCO summit and had special importance as the SCO organization is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2021.
- While addressing the meeting, PM Modi welcomed Iran as the new member of the SCO and three new dialogue partners namely Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
- PM Modi mentioned that today we are facing the biggest challenges related to security, peace, trust deficit, and these challenges are growing day by day due to increasing radicalization. So he urged member nations to cooperate with eachother and tackle the challenges and bring peace and security to every member nation.
- He urged that the youth must be motivated to adopt science and rational thinking. He mentioned that the startups and entrepreneurs must develop innovative spirits jointly in order to make India a stakeholder in emerging technology.
- He also mentioned that India is committed to increasing its connectivity with Central Asia and has asked central Asian countries to connect with India's vast market.
- He highlighted developing connectivity projects with transparency, consultancy, and participation by each member nation and has asked to respect the territorial integrity of all the countries.
