Current Context: The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2022 was released.

• The list was topped by the University of Oxford for the sixth consecutive year.
• The 2nd and 3rd positions were marked by the California Institute of Technology and Harvard University respectively.
• The list is comprised of ranking for 1,600 universities across 99 countries and territories.
• Around 13 parameters were considered under major 4 broad categories to rank the universities.
• The major 4 broad categories were: Teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.
• No Indian University is placed in the top 200 lists. IISc Bengaluru has topped India in the list with the rank position in the top 350.
• IIT Ropar is placed in the 351-400 bracket and IIT Indore is placed in 401-500 bracket of the list.
