- The test was carried out by DRDO from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha.
- The Agni-5 is a surface-to-surface ballistic missile. It is a nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
- It can hit the target at ranges up to 5,000 km with high accuracy. It is 17-meter long, 2-meter wide, and possesses a launch weight of 50 tonnes.
- It uses three-stage solid-fuelled engine.
- The test-firing operation of Agni-5 is in line with India’s stated policy of having credible minimum deterrence that underpins the commitment to ‘No First Use’.
