Current Context: The Mercer Global Pension Index 2021 (MCGPI) was released by Mercer Consulting, which is a leading global management consulting firm in partnership with CFA Institute and the Monash Centre for Financial Studies.

  • The MCGPI analyses the retirement income system based on the three sub-indices namely, adequacy, sustainability, and integrity.
  • This is the 13th edition of the Mercer Global Pension Index 2021.
  • India is ranked at 40th position in the 2021 Mercer CFS Global Pension Index survey. India has an index value of 43.3.
  • The index is topped by Iceland with an index value of 84.2.
  • The 2nd and 3rd positions are marked by Netherlands and Norway respectively.
  • Thailand has the lowest index value of 40.6.
  • India has scored index values of 33.5 in adequacy, 41.8 in sustainability, and 61.0 in integrity.
