Current Context: The Geospatial Energy Map of India was launched by NITI Aayog.
NITI Aayog partnered with ISRO
  • It was launched by NITI Aayog in partnership with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Energy Ministries of the Government of India.
  • The Geospatial Energy Map of India will provide an image of all energy resources of India.
  • It will give images of conventional power plants, oil and gas wells, petroleum refineries, coal fields, and coal blocks, district-wise data on renewable energy power plants, and renewable energy resource potential through 27 thematic layers.
  • It will help to locate primary and secondary sources of energy along with their transmission networks.
  • It will give a view of the energy production and distribution network in India.
  • It will help in planning and making investment decisions.
