‘The State of the World’s Children 2021’ Report Released

Current Context: The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya released a report titled ‘The State of the World’s Children 2021: On My Mind: promoting, protecting and caring for children’s mental health’.

• The state of World’s Children 2021 report is the global flagship publication of UNICEF and so was launched globally.
• The report reveals the impact of pandemic COVID-19 on the mental health of children.
• The report describes that it is important to address and solve mental health-related problems and create a healthy society.
• The Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya mentioned that teachers will play a vital role in addressing health issues in the children along with parents and family.
• He has asked family, parents, and teachers to have open consultations with their children in order to know their health issues and take actions of recovery accordingly.
• As per the report, 14% of 15 to 24-year-olds in India, accounting for 1 in 7, are feeling depressed or show less interest in doing their activities.
