20th SCO CHG Meeting

Current Context: The 20th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government (CHG) meeting was held recently.

• It was held in Nur-Sultan under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in a virtual format.
• India was represented by Union External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar.
• The meeting is held annually to discuss regional issues and the major focus of this meeting was on the trade, economic growth and approve its annual budget.
• The heads of government of the SCO member states, observer states, and secretary-general of the SCO participated in the meeting.
• At the meeting, Union Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted that India is involved in SCO-related activities and its dialogues in the region and with cooperation with other member nations within the SCO framework.
