6th ‘EX SHAKTI 2021’

Current Context: The 6th edition of the biennial training exercise named ‘EX SHAKTI 2021’ commenced on 15th Nov 2021 and will be held till 26th Nov 2021.

• It is being held between Navies of India and France.
• It is being held in Frejus, France.
• India is represented by Gorkha Rifles Infantry Battalion and France Army is represented by troops of the 21st Marine Infantry Regiment of the 6th Light Armoured Brigade.
• The navies of both nations will focus on Counter-Terrorism operations. They will enhance their interoperability and military cooperation.
• Both the nations will also conduct ‘Vyayama Garuda’, which is a biennial Air Force training exercise, and ‘Vyayama Varuna’, which is a biennial maritime training exercise.
