Tourism Ministry signed MoU with IRCTC

Current Context: The Ministry of Tourism has signed an MoU with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

  • The MoU was signed to enhance ongoing efforts by the ministry to strengthen the Hospitality & Tourism Industry in India.
  • The MoU aims to grant visibility to accommodation units, which have self-certified themselves on SAATHI i.e. System for Assessment, Awareness & Training for the Hospitality Industry. The visibility will be granted on the OTA platform.
  • Both the entities will ask the accommodation units to register themselves on the SAATHI and NIDHI (National Integrated Database of Hospital Industry) platforms.
  • The entities aim to encourage the local tourism industry which has suffered during the pandemic situation. So both the entities will make the local tourism Industry capable to sustain by following the norms to avoid the spread of the pandemic.
  • The MoU will also be executed to gain actionable insights, design evidence-based and targeted policy measures for tourism industries.
  • It will help to gain safe, honorable, and sustainable tourism in the country.
