Current Context: The Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2022 was released by German-watch along with Climate Action Network (CAN) and New Climate Institute.
Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2022
  • It was released on the sidelines of the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties (CoP26) to the UNFCCC.
  • As per the index, India is ranked in 10th position.
  • India has maintained its position among the top 10 best-performing countries with higher climate performance for the consecutive year.
  • The top three positions are once again empty as none of the nations performed well to get the position in the index.
  • The 4th position was marked by Denmark.
  • The 5th and 6th positions are marked by Sweden and Norway respectively.
  • The index ranking was calculated by considering 4 indicators namely: Greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, energy usage, and climate policy.
