Current Context: The Amazon and Apple along with India’s Mahindra Group and Dalmia Cement (Bharat) have joined as founding members of the 'First Movers Coalition'.
'First Movers Coalition'
  • The 'First Movers Coalition' will work to fulfill the demand for zero-carbon technologies.
  • The Coalition was formed at the COP26 Summit, held in Glasgow.
  • The coalition is formed by World Economic Forum in partnership with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.
  • It will be the new platform for companies to perform purchasing commitments so that new market demand for low-carbon technologies will emerge.
  • The coalition will work in sectors like steel, cement, aluminum, chemicals, shipping, aviation, and trucking as these sectors account for more than a third of global carbon emissions.
  • The founding members of the Coalition include Agility, Airbus, Amazon, Apple, Bain & Company, Bank of America, Boston Consulting Group, Boeing, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, Delta Air Lines, Mahindra Group, Nokia, ReNew Power, Salesforce, United Airlines, Volvo Group, and Yara International.
