PM Modi Visit to Kedarnath, Uttarakhand

Current Context: Prime Minister Modi visited Kedarnath, Uttarakhand. During his visit, he offered prayers at the Kedarnath Temple.

• He inaugurated the Samadhi and unveiled the statue of Shri Adi Shankaracharya.
• The reconstructed statue of Guru Shankaracharya is 35 tonnes in weight and is made by Mysore-based sculptors from chlorite schist which is a type of rock which posses the ability to withstand in rain, sunshine and harsh climate
• The projects worth Rs 130 crores for Kedarnath were also launched by PM Modi
• The projects include, Mandakini Retaining Wall Aasthapath, Saraswati Retaining Wall Aasthapath, and Ghats, Garud Chatti Bridge on river Mandakini, and Tirth Purohit Houses.
