Current Context: The Tourism and Environment Minister of Maharashtra, Aaditya Thackeray launched Chalo mobile application (app) and Chalo smart cards.
Chalo Mobile Application and Chalo Smart Cards - Maharashtra
  • Both the initiatives were launched to facilitate digital and advance purchase of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) bus tickets.
  • The Chalo mobile app will help passengers to purchase online bus tickets. They will also be able to gain access to bus passes through an e-wallet.
  • The app will also deliver information about how crowded the vehicle is and the arrival time of the bus at various bus stops.
  • The funds of Rs 85 crore are sanctioned for the maintenance of the Chalo mobile application for six years.
