Current Context: India successfully flighted tested the indigenously-developed, surface-to-surface missile ‘Pralay’.
India Flight Tested ‘Pralay’ Missile
  • It was flight tested off the Odisha coast. It was launched from the APJ Abdul Kalam Island.
  • The ‘Pralay’ missile is developed by Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO).
  • It is a solid-fuel, battlefield missile and is based on Prithvi Defence Vehicle from the Indian ballistic missile program.
  • In the testing operation, the missile followed the desired quasi ballistic trajectory and reached the designated target with high degree accuracy, validating the control, guidance, and mission algorithms.
  • It has a range of 150 to 500 km and is integrated with state-of-the-art navigation and integrated avionics.
