Current Context: The government of Karnataka has partnered with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) & the State Bank of India (SBI).

  • They have partnered to launch an ‘e-RUPI’ payment solution.
  • The ‘e-RUPI’ payment solution will be launched for students under its scholarship program.
  • To redeem the e-RUPI, the institutes will have to scan QR codes or SMS strings which will be displayed by students through an app.
  • The ‘e-RUPI’ payment solution will lead to performing cashless and contactless payments in a safe and secure manner.
  • The students will be able to make payment of their education fees using the solution.
  • The state government will get e-vouchers delivered to the mobiles of eligible students.
