Current Context: The State Bank of India (SBI) has signed an MoU with Usha International Limited (UIL).

  • The MoU was signed to empower women entrepreneurs in India.
  • Under the MoU, the women entrepreneurs will be granted financial assistance support so that they can execute their businesses in a seamless manner.
  • The funds will be provided under the Joint Liability Group model.
  • The partnership will help to uplift the social and economic status of women entrepreneurs in rural areas of India.
  • Both the entities will make women self-reliant and will grant them equal opportunity to attain financial growth and inclusion in their businesses.
  • The SBI bank’s branches in Uttarakhand, Delhi, Western UP, and NCR Haryana will grant financial support to women.
  • The training to the women entrepreneurs will be provided by UIL through USHA Silai Schools in India.
