Current Context: India’s first ‘District Good Governance Index’ was launched virtually by Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Amit Shah.
District Good Governance Index
  • It was launched for 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The top 5 winners in the index are: Jammu (1st), Doda (2nd), Samba (3rd), Pulwama (4th), and Srinagar (5th).
  • The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) in partnership with the Jammu & Kashmir Government has framed the index.
  • The index is a document that shows the performance of ten governance sectors on the basis of 58 indicators with 116 data points.
