Current Context: The government of Odisha has entered into a partnership with United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

  • They have partnered to improve the food security of small and marginal farmers.
  • Through this partnership, both entities aim to strengthen resilience to climate change.
  • The support to farmers will be given and they will be trained to tackle cyclones and adapt to the impact of the climate crisis.
  • The farmers will be trained to select the right agriculture method, the right crop which will yield good fruit to them.
  • In this way, both the entities will solve the issues related to food security and the incomes of the farmers.
  • The state’s Department of Agriculture and WFP will strengthen adaptability to climate variability among the small farmers.
  • They will work to develop norms to manage food systems, enhance capacity building and food security in the state.
  • Various toolkits, modules, and guidelines will be developed which will be used to enhance food security.
