Student Start-ups and Innovation Policy 2.0 (SSIP-2.0) -- Gujarat

Current Context: The CM of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel launched ‘Student Start-ups and Innovation Policy 2.0 (SSIP-2.0)’.

• It was launched for a tenure of 5 years.
• Under the policy, provisions for the establishment of active innovation and incubation centers in all universities of the states will be developed.
• Around 50 lakh students across 1,000 higher education institutes and 10,000 schools of innovation and entrepreneurship will be benefited from the policy.
• The support and assistance from the experts will be given to 10,000 proof of concepts, prototypes, and 1,000 proof of concepts which are developed by students.
• The main objective of the policy is to financially support school students in innovation activities.
• The announcement of the policy took place during International Conference on Academic Institutions at Gujarat Science City in Ahmedabad.
