Current Context: The NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission has partnered with Snap Inc, which is the camera firm that owns the social media platform Snapchat.
AIM partnered with Snap Inc.
  • They have partnered to develop Augmented Reality (AR) skills among youths of India.
  • They will also launch a nationwide Lensathon (AR-making hackathon).
  • The hackathon will encourage the participation of females in AR.
  • In the two years of time span, Snap Inc is expected to train over 12,000 teachers affiliated with the Atal Tinkering Labs on Augmented Reality.
  • These trained teachers will further educate millions of students affiliated with ATL’s network of schools.
  • Snap Inc has also collaborated with the Atal Incubation Centers (AICs) which will support the Indian startup ecosystem in the AR domain.
