Current Context: PM Narendra Modi attended the 5th BIMSTEC summit hosted virtually by Sri Lanka.

BIMSTEC Summit 2022

Theme - “Towards a Resilient Region, Prosperous Economies, Healthy People”.
The main outcome of this year’s Summit was the adoption and signing of the BIMSTEC charter. IT formalized the BIMSTEC grouping into an organization with flags, emblems, and listed principles to adhere to.
India pledged 1 million US dollars to strengthen the capacity of the BIMSTEC Secretariat.
