Current Context: Ministry of I&B via 3 orders transferred the ‘production of documentaries and short films’, ‘organization of film festivals’, and ‘preservation of films’ to the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

• NFDC is a PSU under the Ministry of I&B.
• Production of documentaries and short films has been transferred from Films Division to NFDC.
• The organization of film festivals has been transferred from the Directorate of Films Festivals.
• Preservation-related activities have been transferred from the National Film Archives of India.
