- Appointments
- ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) director Sanjay Arora was appointed as the Commissioner of Delhi Police. He will succeed Rakesh Asthana, a Gujarat-cadre IPS officer. Sanjay Arora is a 1988-batch Tamil Nadu-cadre IPS officer.
- Pranay Kumar Verma was appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the People's Republic of Bangladesh. He presently serves as the Ambassador of India to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
- Sports
- Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu wins a gold medal in the women's 49Kg weightlifting category at Commonwealth games 2022. She lifted a total of 201 Kg (88 Kg, 113 Kg) to win the gold medal. This was India's first gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
- The silver medal was won by Mauritius Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa (172 Kg) and the bronze medal was won by Canada's Hannah Kaminski (171 Kg).
- Sanket Mahadev Sargar wins a silver medal in the weightlifting men's 55 kg category at Commonwealth Games 2022. He hails from Sangli in Maharashtra. He managed a total lift of 248Kg (113kg in Snatch, 135 kg in clean & jerk) to open India's account in the Commonwealth Games 2022.
- Malaysia's Mohamad Aniq Bin Kasdan won the gold medal with a total lift of 249kg. Sri Lanka's Dilanka Isuru Kumara Yodage won the bronze medal.
- Gururaja Poojary won a bronze medal in the weightlifting men's 61Kg category at Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. He lifted a total of 269kg (118kg in snatch and 151kg in Clean & jerk ).
- Malaysia's Aznil Bin Bidin Muhamad won the gold medal with a Commonwealth Games record of a total of 285kg. Papua New Guinea's Morea Baru won the silver medal with a lift of 273kg.

- Punjab sports department to organize 'Punjab Khed Mela' in which competitions in 30 sports events will be held for under 14 to 60 year age group. The Khed Mela will be held from block to state-level and will begin on August 29.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 1st All India District Legal Services Authority meet in Delhi. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju was also present at the event.

- Edelweiss General Insurance launches Switch 'Pay As You Drive' (PAYD) add-on for its private car package policy. The PAYD add-on gives customers three options of Own Damage cover up to 5000 km, 5000-7500 km, and 7500 to 10000 km annually. Earlier this month EGI launched Switch 2.0, which is the only product in India that combines pay-as-you-drive and pay-how-you-drive benefits.
