Current Context: India and Oman will conduct a 13-day long military exercise 'AL NAJAH-IV' in Rajasthan.

  • The exercises AL NAJAH-IV will focus on counter-terrorism and will be held in Mahajan Field firing ranges in Rajasthan from August 1 to 13. This year marks the fourth edition of the exercise.
  • A 60-member team from the Royal Army of Oman will participate in the exercise. At the exercise, the Indian Army will be represented by troops from the 18 Mechanised Infantry Battalion.
  • The previous edition of the exercise was held in Muscat in March 2019. The exercise includes professional interaction, mutual understanding of drills and procedures, the establishment of joint command and control structures, and the elimination of terrorist threats.
  • The joint exercise between India and Oman will focus on counter-terrorism operations, regional security operations, and peacekeeping operations under the United Nations charter. Will also organize joint physical training schedules, tactical drills, techniques, and procedures.
