- As part of the central government's move to make India a hub for drone technology, the first remote pilot training school in the Northeast is to be launched in Guwahati.
- For this project Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (AMTRON) has partnered with Edurade, a startup incubated at IIT-Guwahati and IIM-Calcutta innovation park.
- Assam's information technology minister Keshab Mahanta inaugurated the drone school. The school will have trainers certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for conducting the pilot licence training program.
- The school is set up at Tech City with its flying ground at the Assam forest school in Jalukbari. For training purposes, AMTRON has acquired two micro categories (not over 2kg) and two small categories (2-25 kg) of indigenous drones. The First DGCA-approved drone training school is located in Haryana.
