- Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam in a meeting with the officials of the Agriculture Department and Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY) discussed key initiatives for supporting the farmers.
- During the meeting, Himanta Biswa Sarma reviewed the measures proposed by the Agriculture Department for setting up rice mills and providing Combine Harvesters and Mini Trucks to Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs).
- The government will provide support for the setting up of 50 rice mills in the state with a 200 MT milling capacity. The scheme is promoted in line with CMSGUY and Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) with subsidies of 10 lakhs to 40 lakhs depending on the capacity of the mill.
- It will also sponsor to set up of 1,000 mini rice mills under AIF. These mini rice mills will be provided subsidies upto 1.17 lakh per mill. The Agriculture Department Combine Harvesters will be provided with a subsidy of upto 90 percent to FPCs.
- The scheme for providing Mini Trucks with a subsidy of 30 percent or Rs 1.5 lakh will be carried out.
