- This move to set up English medium colleges in the state is to facilitate the native students to pursue higher education in the state itself. This will reduce the financial burden on the parents, whose children have to go outside of the state to pursue higher education.
- CM of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel has given instruction to the state chief secretary to submit the action plan within 10 days. The colleges will be set up in every district headquarters over the next three years and will be named as Swami Atmanand English Medium Model Colleges.
- In the initial stage of the project, 10 English Medium colleges will be opened in major cities of the state from the next academic session starting June 2023. Later the colleges will be opened in all the district headquarters over the next three years in a phase-wise manner.
- Currently, there are no English medium government colleges in the state, because of which students need to take admitted to colleges located in metropolitan cities for higher education.
