- Assam government hikes the daily wage of tea plantation workers by Rs 27 per day in both Brahmaputra and Barak Valley. The upward revision of wages will be effective from August 1. With this increase the tea workers in Brahmaputra Valley will receive Rs 232 and tea plantation workers in Barak Valley will receive Rs 210.

- Edelweiss General Insurance (EGI) partners with the Ministry of Health, and the Government of India to help create digital health identities for citizens. ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) is a 14-digit number that helps users to share and access their health records digitally with registered healthcare providers. ABHA is the first step toward creating safe and secure digital health records. The National Health Authority (NHA) is responsible for implementing this program under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
- Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has amended rules governing portfolio managers under which they will not be allowed to invest clients' funds in unrated securities of their associates and related parties. This is to enhance prudential norms for investments by portfolio managers, including investments in associates and related parties.
- Science and Technology
- India successfully test fires Vertical Launch Short Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) from Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur off the Odisha coast. The VL-SRSAM was flight-tested by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy. This flight test was carried out from an Indian naval ship against a high-speed unmanned aerial target for demonstration of vertical launch capability.

- India maintains the third spot in the latest ICC ODI team rankings. India has 111 rating points with the 3-0 clean sweep in Harare. New Zealand continues at the top spot with 124 rating points after their win over the West Indies. England is at the second spot with 119 points. Pakistan is ranked fourth on the list.
- India's Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa defeated five-time World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen at the FTX Crypto Cup and finished runners-up in the tournament in Miami. This is the third straight victory over the Norwegian in his career.

- The Asia Pacific Group (APG) on Money Laundering has revoked the observer status of Russia, citing its aggression in Ukraine. The group consists of China, India, and Pakistan, with China being its founding member since 1997. The decision on terminating Russia's observer status was taken last month during the APG annual meeting in Malaysia.
- Obituaries
- Billionaire Julian Robertson, Tiger Management founder who became one of his generation's most successful hedge-fund managers and a mentor to a wave of investors known as Tiger Cubs, has died at the age of 90.
- Former governor of Jharkhand and Congress leader Syed Sibte Razi, who was close to the Nehru-Gandhi family passed away at the King George Medical University in Lucknow at the age of 83.
- Appointments
- Vikram Doraiswami was appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the UK. Vikram Doraiswami joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1992. He was earlier appointed as India's Envoy to Bangladesh in August 2020.
- Odia scientist, Debasisa Mohanty was appointed as Director of the National Institute of Immunology (NII). He is currently working as a staff scientist at NII.
