- For this initiative, Oyo has partnered with Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM). The partnership includes the identification of the homes, their audit, transformation, and civil work, transfer of technology, training of home stay owners, marketing, and branding.
- Under this initiative, they plan to create 200 new Oyo homestays in Jammu and Kashmir by December. The inauguration ceremony was held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre, in the presence of Mandeep Kaur, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Panchayati Raj, and Rural Development, Government of J&K, Sarmad Hafeez, IAS, Secretary, Tourism and Culture government of J&K, Mission director of J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission Indu Kanwal Chib and Ankit Gupta, CEO of Oyo India.
- The government issued the procedures for registering homestays in Jammu and Kashmir, which helps the people to earn a livelihood from the tourism industry. The homestays are created under the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission scheme called 'Umeed', which aims to reduce poverty in the state by engaging people in gainful livelihood interventions.
- The homestays are located in Udhampur, Poonch, Doda, Kathua, and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Anantnag, Baramulla, Bandipora, and Srinagar districts of Kashmir valley which were identified based on parameters of scenic beauty, landscape, cultural diversity, and heritage.
- On August 1 and 2 the Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihood Mission organized a workshop for homestay owners in Srinagar. A similar workshop will be organized for homestay owners in Jammu on August 16 and 17.
