Current Context: Kerala to launch a Digital locker facility for villages prone to flood.

This facility will help people in the villages that are prone to flood to keep their valuable documents safely.
Kodiyathur and Karasseryare, two flood-prone villages of Kerala will use technological solutions and implement digital locker facilities for people to safely keep their valuable documents.
Authorities of the villages will conduct free camps in most rain-hit areas in the panchayats in order to create awareness among people about the facility and make them part of it.
The Digital locker facility is part of the Digital India Programme of the government of India that helps people to store their personnel and government documents in the digital format.
The major issue people face during the time of floods in Kerala was the loss of valuable documents. The Digital locker facility will be a solution to the issue. Aadhar card, PAN card, birth certificate, vehicle registration, and educational qualification can be kept in digital format in the digital locker and no special charges will be incurred for this.
The documents can be submitted in the digital format itself during the time of verification and it would be considered on par with the original certificates under the IT act.
