National Conference of Rural Cooperative banks to be inaugurated by Amit Shah

Current Context: Union Home and Cooperation minister Amit Shah will inaugurate a one-day-long National Conference of Rural Cooperative banks.

• The National Conference of Rural Cooperative banks is organized by the Ministry of Cooperation and the National Federation of State Cooperative Banks (NAFSCOB).
• B L Verma, Union minister of state for cooperation will address the valedictory session of the conference. Gyanesh Kumar, Secretary Ministry of Cooperation, Chairman of NAFSCOB Konduru Ravinder Rao, and Bhima Subrahmanyam, Managing Director NAFSCOB will be present at the event.
• Amit Shah will present performance awards to State Cooperative banks, District Central Cooperative banks (DCCBs), and Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) and will also felicitate short-term cooperative credit institutions for 100 years of service.
• The National Federation of State Cooperative Banks was established on May 19, 1964, with an objective to facilitate the operations of state and central cooperative banks and the development of short-term cooperative credit structures.
• The short-term cooperative credit structure in India consists of 34 state cooperative banks, 351 DCCBs, and 96,575 PACS. NAFSCOB provides a common forum for its members, shareholders, and owners to showcase their achievements, focus on their concerns and promote their interests.
