  • The State Bank of India Card (SBI Card) launched the first ‘cashback SBI Card’, enabling cardholders to earn 5% cashback on all online spending without any merchant restrictions. It is a contactless card and will be free till March 2023. Interested customers will be able to buy it from the SBI Card SPRINT App.
  • The Tejas Mark-2 Project, which is the advanced version of Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). The Committee sanctioned Rs 6500 cr in addition to the Rs 2500 cr that was already approved for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Smiths Detection Groups Limited for making High Energy Scanning Systems in India. It will enhance land border and port safety in India.

  • The Border and Security Force (BSF) has developed a tear gas shell-dropping drone launcher system for police, and security forces. It has been designed to control mobs and rioters.
  • The rural Backyard Piggery Scheme was launched by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma. It is a flagship program for the farmers under National Livestock Mission.
  • Awards:
    • 64th Ramon Magsaysay Award was announced by the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation. The theme of the 64th Ramon Magsaysay Award was, "Greatness of Spirit, Beyond Borders".

      • Category 2: Market-ready Solutions; Winner: Mouseware by Dextroware Devices
      • Category 3: Implemented Solutions; Winner: Multi-Dimensional Inclusiveness: Using Advanced Technologies for Education and Literacy by Belagavi Smart City Ltd.
  • Appointments:
    • Kalyan Chaubey was appointed as the new All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) President. He beat Bhaichung Bhutia, 33-1 in the election for the president. Kalyan became the first player in the federation's 85-year history to become the president.
    • Laxman Narasimhan was appointed as the new CEO of Starbucks. He will take the place of Howard Schultz.
  • Important Days:
    • Every year, the first Saturday of September (in this year's case: 3rd Sept.) is celebrated as International Vulture Awareness Day.
  • Obituary:
    • Educator and women’s rights activist, Mary Roy passed away at the age of 89 years. She was the mother of Man Booker Prize winner Arundhati Roy.
