  • The 7th Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX-2022) was inaugurated by ISRO Chief, S Somnath. It is a three-day event that will showcase the products of 145 private and public sector companies in the space sector. The event is being held at the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC). BSX is a biennial event that was conducted in 2008 for the first time.
  • The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has approved an Rs. 500 Cr Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) Project in Pune, Maharashtra. It will be set on an area of 297 acres and is expected to attract investment of over Rs. 2000 Cr.
  • The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the final 100% acquisition of the equity share capital of IndiaIdeas.com (IIL) by PayU Payments Private (PayU India). The deal between the IIL and PayU was announced in August 2021 and has been approved by the CCI after a year.

  • The unprecedented floods in Pakistan have pushed the Indus Valley Civilization site, Mohenjodaro, on the verge of extinction. The 5000-year-old archaeological site is situated in the Sindh province of Pakistan and was discovered with the assistance of RD Banerji in 1922. The literal meaning of Mohenjodaro is "mound of the dead".
  • On his visit to the US, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in San Francisco. Goyal also visited Gadar Memorial Hall in San Francisco.
  • Appointments:
    • The Shipping Corporation of India has appointed Captain BK Tyagi as the Chief Managing Director (CMD) of the company. He will serve as the company's CMD for 5 years.
    • Indian-origin Suella Braverman was appointed as the Home Secretary in the UK's Prime Minister Liz Truss' cabinet.
    • Sanjay Kumar Verma has been appointed as India’s next High Commissioner to Canada.
  • Sports:
    • In the Super-4 of the Asia Cup 2022, Sri Lanka defeated India by 6 wickets and pushed India close to the exit of the tournament. India has already lost to Pakistan in Super-4 and it is highly unlikely that India will qualify for the finals.
    • The Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) has renamed the stands of the IS Bindra PCA International Stadium at Mohali after Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh.
    • India's left-handed batsman, Suresh Raina, announced his retirement from all formats of cricket, including the IPL. Raina played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for 11 seasons.
