  • New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) passed the proposal to rename "Rajpath" as "Kartavya Path". The revamped 101-acre stretch from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to the India Gate will now be called "Kartavya Path".
  • The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal launched the US Startup, Supporting the Entrepreneurs in Transformation and Upskilling (SETU) program in San Francisco. SETU will connect Indian start-ups to US-based investors.
  • The 14th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Global MedTech Summit was held in New Delhi. The title of the Summit was, "Seizing the Global Opportunity". Union Health Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh addressed the Summit.

  • According to the annual report of UNESCO, titled "No Teacher, No Class", India's Pupil-Teacher Ratio witnessed a reduction in the last decade. At the primary level, the pupil-teacher ratio decreased to 26.3 in 2020-21 from 43 in 2010-11. At the upper-primary level, the pupil-teacher ratio decreased to 18.9 in 2020-21 from 33 in 2010-11.
  • Appointments:
    • A humanoid robot, Ms. Tang Yu was appointed as the world’s first "Robot CEO" of the Chinese Company, Fujian NetDragon Websoft. Along with being the CEO, Ms. Tang will also act as the data hub for the company.
    • H. E. William S Ruto was elected as the new President of Kenya. He defeated the opposition candidate Raila Odinga in his narrow presidential win.
    • Mahesh Vishwanathan Iyer was appointed as the Chairperson of Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL). Iyer was the former Director (Business Development) of Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL).
  • Important Days:
    • September 08 is celebrated around the world as International Literacy Day (ILD). In 1966, September 08 was declared as the ILD by UNESCO and the first ILD was celebrated in the year 1967. The theme for ILD-2022 was, "Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”.
    • September 08 is celebrated as World Physical Therapy Day. It is celebrated to mark the contributions of physiotherapists to society. It is observed since 1996 and is promoted by World Physiotherapy.
  • Obituary:
    • Padma Shri awardee, Ramchandra Manjhi passed away at the age of 97 after a prolonged illness. Manjhi was a famous performer of ‘Launda Naach’, a folk dance of Bihar, and gave it international recognition. He was also conferred with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2017.
    • Businessman Atulya Mafatlal of the Yogindra Mafatlal Group passed away at the age of 60.
  • Sports:
    • The English Club, Chelsea, fired its Manager, Thomas Tuchel after their disappointing start in the Premier League and the Champions League.
    • Indian drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh was nominated for the Men's Player of the Year. He is the vice-captain of the Indian Hockey Team.
