Current Context: Chief Minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, launched “Cinematic Tourism Policy 2022-27”.
Gujarat's "Cinematic Tourism Policy"
  • The Policy was launched to market Gujarat as a potential destination for film and documentary makers from the Indian film industry and Hollywood.
  • It is aimed to boost private participation in the growth of film cities, film and television studios, film training institutes, film processing labs, and post-production facilities.
  • Several Indian production houses, namely, Ajay Devgn’s firm NY Cinemas LLP, Panorama Studios International Ltd, Laxmi Film Laboratories and Studios Pvt Ltd, and Bollywood Hub signed an agreement with the state government.
  • As a step to attract filmmakers, the government also announced a subsidy that will be provided to films (or part of the films) shot in Gujarat.
  • Along with this, Projects not shot in Gujarat, but covering the culture and stories of Gujarat or tourist facilities will also be eligible for incentives. However, the dubbed version will not be eligible for any kind of subsidy.
