Indian Railways' Revenue Shoots Up
  • Indian Railways' revenue grew by a healthy 38% to Rs. 95,487 crores in the first five months of FY23.
  • The revenue showed an increase of Rs. 26,271.29 crores with respect to the corresponding period of FY22.
  • Over the corresponding period of last year, revenue from passenger traffic grew by 116% or Rs. 13,574.44 crores to Rs. 25,277 crores in April-August of FY23.
  • Goods' revenue clocked an increase of 20% and was Rs. 65,505 crores by August in FY23.
  • The growth in other coaching revenue was 50% and was calculated to be Rs. 2,437 crores in April-August of FY23.
  • There was an increase of 19% in the e-Way Bills generated by businesses for the inter-state movement of goods and it touched an all-time high of Rs. 78.21 million in August.
