  • JALDOOT App has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development.
  • The objective of the JALDOOT App will be to enable Gram Rojgar Sahyak to measure the water level of wells in the vicinity pre-monsoon and post-monsoon, i.e., twice a year.
  • In open wells, manual monitoring of water levels will be done from 1st May to 31st May for pre-monsoon water levels and from 1st October to 31st October for post-monsoon water levels.
  • At the event, Minister Kulaste said that there was a need for states, UTs, and gram panchayats to collect the groundwater level data systematically and assimilate it into the central digital database for analysis.
  • Officers assigned to measure the water levels will be called “Jaldoots” and will be responsible for uploading the geo-tagged photographs through the app on every occasion of measurement.
  • Since the JALDOOT App will work in both online and offline mode, the water level can be captured without internet connectivity.
