- The objective of this Rs.19,500 crore scheme is to achieve a manufacturing capacity of Giga Watt (GW) scale in High-Efficiency Solar PV Modules.
- The scheme aims to build an ecosystem for manufacturing high-efficiency solar Photo Voltaic modules in India that will reduce India’s import dependence and will further strengthen the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative.
- After the selection of manufacturers through a transparent process, the incentives on sales under PLI will be disbursed for 5 years post commissioning of solar PV manufacturing plants.
- The scheme is expected to achieve a manufacturing capacity of 65,000 MW per year and will bring a direct investment of Rs. 94,000 crores.
- The program is also expected to provide direct employment to 1,95,000 and indirect employment to 7,80,000 people.
