Current Context: RK Singh Union Minister of Power and NRE inaugurated a conference of power and energy ministers.

Union Minister of Power and NRE inaugurates Conference of power and renewable energy

The Union Minister highlighted the achievements made in recent years in the power sector.
Even though the demand for electricity has increased by about 11% in the last 5 years, the government has been able to meet it.
It was also emphasized that the requirement will also get increased by 2030.
To adapt to these changes, it is important that DISCOMS should follow prudent and sustainable financial practices to ensure their viability.
It was also highlighted that India’s per capita emissions are only 1/3rd of the world’s average.
